Mark Churchill, founder and Music Director of Symphony Pro Musica, has promoted the appreciation of classical music through two decades of service as conductor, educator, administrator and performer.
Mark Churchill enjoys international recognition as both a musician and educator. In addition to his association with SPM, he serves as Associate Conductor of the Boston Ballet, Dean of Preparatory and Continuing Education at the New England Conservatory, a founder and Vice President of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas and Resident Conductor of the Asian Youth Orchestra in Hong Kong. A virtuoso cellist, he has been a featured soloist throughout New England, South America and the Far East. In 2005, Mark Churchill was honored with Harvard’s prestigious Luise Vosgerchian Teaching Award.
Mr. Churchill’s ambitious and varied choice of programming for Symphony Pro Musica over two decades reflects his faith in the talent of local performers. His sensitive, incisive interpretations of orchestral and operatic masterpieces have drawn the highest praise from critics, audiences and musical colleagues alike.
